Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we use it and the choices you have.

Last updated: 22 July 2026

1. Who we are

JLM Retail Group Limited (company number 12627578), trading as The Wed Shop, is the controller of your personal information. Our registered office is 3 Yew Tree Close, Chester, Cheshire, England, CH2 4JY. You can contact us at hello@thewedshop.co.uk.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use our website and services, we may collect:

  • your name, email address, telephone number and delivery or billing address;
  • order, booking, event, delivery, return and customer-service details;
  • payment status and transaction references (payment card details are handled by our payment provider);
  • messages, reviews, survey responses and other information you send us;
  • voice recordings and related information when you or a guest uses an audio guestbook service;
  • technical data such as your IP address, browser, device and basic security or server logs; and
  • marketing preferences and records of your consent.

3. How and why we use it

  • To answer enquiries and fulfil orders or bookings — because it is necessary to take steps at your request or perform our contract with you.
  • To process payments, deliveries, returns and refunds — to perform our contract and meet our legal obligations.
  • To provide private digital content or recordings — to perform our contract with the person who booked the service and for our legitimate interest in delivering the requested experience.
  • To secure and improve our website and services — for our legitimate interests in operating a safe, useful business.
  • To keep tax, accounting and consumer records — to meet our legal obligations.
  • To send optional marketing — with your consent where consent is required. You can unsubscribe at any time.

We do not use personal information for solely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

4. Audio recordings

A person chooses whether to leave a message. Recordings may contain a voice, name and anything the speaker decides to say. The customer who books the service should make guests aware that messages are recorded and shared with the customer. Please do not include sensitive personal information about someone else without their permission.

5. Who we share information with

We only share information where needed with trusted suppliers such as website hosting, cloud storage, email, payment, delivery, customer support and professional advisers. We may also share it where required by law, to protect legal rights, or in connection with a business sale or reorganisation. Our suppliers may only use the information for the agreed service and must protect it appropriately.

6. International transfers

Some suppliers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, we use a lawful transfer mechanism, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards, together with appropriate protections.

7. How long we keep information

We keep information only as long as needed for the purpose collected. Enquiries are normally kept for up to 24 months. Core order, payment and accounting records are normally kept for six years after the relevant financial year. The availability and deletion schedule for private recordings will be stated in the relevant booking information; routine backup copies may remain for a short additional period before being overwritten. We may keep information longer where a dispute or legal requirement makes that necessary.

8. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask for access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction, or transfer, and you can object to certain uses. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful use. Email us to exercise a right; we may need to confirm your identity first.

9. Complaints

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services or legal obligations change. The latest version will always appear here with its updated date.
